Behind the movie "Tangled" ...

I watched this (even though I usually don’t like animated movies) and it is entertaining and well done, but as usual Disney is true to form in SO CLEVELY and subtly corrupting the minds of our youth with a twist that makes it seem all ok (even to the parents) – (see http://publicvigil.blogspot.com/2010/05/disney-deception.html) but when you look into it, it is actually hideous … (the catch words – mother, what you’ve been told/taught – as being WRONG – and it seems fine cos WE all know SHE is “evil”!!!! But those words “mother” and “what you’ve been taught” are what stick in our children’s minds – perhaps even making them think maybe we’re evil too …

Tangled is a 2010 animated musical film produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios. The film features the voices of Mandy Moore, Zachary Levi and Donna Murphy. The film is the 50th animated feature in the Walt Disney Animated Classics series. The story is largely based on the German fairy tale "Rapunzel" by the Brothers Grimm.^[4]

The film was originally titled and marketed as Rapunzel until it was changed to Tangled shortly before its release. It premiered in theatres and in 3D cinemas on November 24, 2010,^[5] after six years of production and a budget of $260 million.^[2] As of April 20, 2011, it is the most expensive animated feature film and second-most expensive film ever made, behind Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. (Sounds like it must have been rather important to them to make this movie!!)

In order to market the film to both boys and girls, Disney changed the film's name from Rapunzel to Tangled, while also emphasizing Flynn Rider, the film's prominent male character.

Plot

Rapunzel, a long-lost princess, lives isolated in a tower with Gothel, whom she believes is her mother. Gothel had kidnapped Rapunzel when she was a baby because of her magical golden hair that kept her young (and told Rapunzel she was her “mother”). She knew Rapunzel's magical hair, if cut, would turn brown and lose its magic. (This magic was released through Rapunzel singing an incantation or “spell”). Every year on Rapunzel's birthday, her kingdom sends thousands of lanterns into the sky wishing their lost princess would return. On her eighteenth birthday, Rapunzel asks Gothel to let her see the floating lights, but Gothel says no because the world is full of dangers. (That it’s for her own good, mother knows best that it is evil out there, etc, etc – what we would tell our children about media, music, drugs, sex, clubbing, etc – when it is clear in this movie that it is solely for the “mother’s” completely selfish reasons).

Meanwhile, thieves led by Flynn Rider steal the tiara of the missing princess from the castle and are chased by the kingdom guards. During the chase, the lead guard's horse, Maximus, is separated from his rider and continues the search for Flynn on his own. Flynn outwits his accomplices by taking the tiara; he abandons them and stumbles upon Rapunzel's tower. Once inside the tower, Flynn is knocked unconscious by Rapunzel with a frying pan. She hides Flynn (looking like he is “dead” and she has no mercy, in fact quite brutal in the way she handles him) and his satchel.

When Gothel returns, Rapunzel requests a special paint for her birthday instead (as she cleverly deceives the “wicked” witch (her ‘mother’). Gothel leaves for a three-day journey to bring the gift. Then Rapunzel makes a deal with Flynn: a journey to the "lights" in exchange for the tiara. (On the journey there is a scene where Rapunzel is crying, that she has been despicable. Flynn comforts her by saying "I can see you at war with yourself - an overprotective mother, forbidden road trip... But let me ease your conscience - this is part of growing up. A little rebellion, a little adventure - that's good, healthy even ... you way over-thinking this, trust me .... Does your mother deserve it? - no. Would this break her heart and crush her soul? - of course, but you just GOTTA DO IT!!! ")

Flynn attempts to make Rapunzel end their journey by taking her to the Snuggly Duckling Parlor. It is full of Viking thugs (giants – imagery cupid, skulls, unicorns, etc), but they are charmed by Rapunzel.

Gothel sees Maximus riderless and worries someone will find Rapunzel; she returns to the tower to find Rapunzel gone. Meanwhile, the guards invade the tavern, but the thugs help the pair escape. The pursuit ends at a dam, which Maximus caused to collapse. Flynn and Rapunzel are trapped in a flooding cave. Believing he's about to die, Flynn admits his true name: Eugene Fitzherbert. Rapunzel admits she has magic hair that glows when she sings. When it glows, they find a way out. Later around a campfire, Rapunzel heals Eugene's cut with her magic hair. When Eugene goes to gather firewood, Gothel secretly meets Rapunzel. Gothel tells Rapunzel that Eugene doesn't care for her, he only wants the tiara; giving her the satchel, Gothel insists that Rapunzel test Eugene by giving it to him.

The next morning, Maximus confronts Eugene, but to Eugene's dismay Rapunzel befriends the horse. The three arrive at the kingdom and that night Eugene takes Rapunzel to see the lanterns. There, Rapunzel gives Eugene back his satchel. Eugene spies his former accomplices and leaves Rapunzel waiting as he gives them the tiara back. However, the pair knock him out, tie him on a boat and sail him across the lake. They reveal Eugene's "betrayal" to Rapunzel as they attempt to kidnap her for her hair's power, but Gothel rescues her and they return to the tower. Later, Eugene is arrested and sentenced to death. Maximus brings The Snuggly Duckling thugs to rescue Eugene, and horse and rider race to the tower.

From various clues she finds during her adventure, Rapunzel realizes she is the long-lost princess (the ‘sun’ features here - The true essence of the Sun symbolism is its representation of primordial intellect, the manifestation of universal (cosmic, omnipresent) consciousness which transcends space-time and energy. The Human process of harmonizing with this force is called: at-onement, illumination or enlightenment.

I'd be careful with this one. Sun symbolism has nothing to do with Christianity. It has everything to do with occultism. Remember what Satan's name was? Lucifer....meaning "the illuminated one". Most of the time the sun symbol is in close relation with Lucifer and the Illuminati. Christianity adopted the symbolism because when pagan Rome transitioned into Christianity it kept a lot of its pagan worship and just gave it Christian relevance. Catholicism has a lot of pagan traditions and symbolism in it. The traditions of Christmas and Christmas decorations alone are very very saturated in paganism. Early pagan Christians didn't want to give up their pagan traditions, so instead they just slapped a "Christian" label on it. Don't believe me? Do the research yourself.

Now I happen to be a Christian and very much believe in Christ dying for our sins and that there is no way to salvation without the blood of Christ. But beware...there is a lot of occultism still very much alive in this world. And the Illuminati is very real...Freemasons, Jesuits, New World Order...it's all very real. The book of Revelation points to this. One World Government, the Whore of Babylon. There is something very sinister going on in our government today. The stage for this is being set as I speak. War, famine, pestilence....these won't be just a tragic misfortune that happens by accident. It is being plotted and planned by dark powers (spirits) and dark human alliances. The symbolism is their stamp, their boasting.

God warns us in His second commandment:

"You shall not make for yourself a graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them or serve them..."

Sun worship was huge throughout all pagan worship. Think of ancient sun "gods" like Apollo, Helios, Ra, Surya. Those are just a few.

God tells us not to make graven images. God doesn't need symbols to be represented.

The movie Tangled seems to have these symbols innocently placed throughout the movie...but when you know about the true meaning of the symbols...you find out that it's not so innocent and there is a dark agenda behind it. April 23, 2011 9:28 AM)

… and attempts to flee the tower. Gothel binds her, and when Eugene arrives, Gothel stabs him. Rapunzel swears to keep fighting Gothel unless she is allowed to heal Eugene's wound. Gothel agrees but before she heals him Eugene cuts Rapunzel's hair short with a piece of broken mirror. Rapunzel's hair turns brown and loses its magic.(Signficance in hair colour and cutting of hair – can’t remember what I heard – perhaps someone can fill me in on this?) Gothel rapidly begins to age; while delirious, she trips and falls from the tower turning into dust. Eugene slowly dies in Rapunzel's arms. As she cries over his body, a teardrop filled with her magic lands on his cheek and revives him. Back at the kingdom the royal family has a tearful reunion and the king and queen pull Eugene into their embrace. Years later, Eugene and Rapunzel are married. Along the way the pub thugs fulfill their individual dreams, and Maximus becomes a respected official on the Royal Guard.

Commentary on Rapunzel Story

The witch is called "Mother Gothel", a common term for a godmother in German. She features as the overprotective parent, and interpretations often differ on how negatively she is to be regarded. (from Wikipedia)

My note: Godmother is also supposed to be the spiritual (godly) influence that a person has in their life.

In 2009 on the Monster Ball Tour, Lady Gaga was dressed as Rapunzel as she performed her song "Paparazzi". – interesting?

CARRIED BY GRACE

“Who is equal to such a task?” (2 Corinthians 2:16)

There are people who speak of themselves as self-made people – claiming they achieved success and their position of authority by pulling themselves up by their own bootstraps. They say they did it single-handedly – without receiving help or favours from anyone else. As a result they are very proud of themselves.

Of course, no person is self-existent or self-made. Without the help and support of mentors and colleagues and countless other people and forces, they would have achieved very little in life.

The Christian disciple acknowledges with gratitude that if he has achieved anything at all in this world, it is only due to the inspiration, grace and strength that have been given to him by Jesus Christ and through the Holy Spirit.

Furthermore, once he has declared this faith and conviction, he remains constantly aware that there are further spiritual heights that need to be reached; challenges that need to be met; and a life that needs to be lived to the glory and honour of God the Father. When he surveys the road that still lies ahead, the disciple might still shrink back from the unknown. God has given him a vision of what a life in Christ really means and as a result he feels completely unequipped to strive toward that goal and to realize that vision.

The victorious life is possible for a Christian only when it is lived in the power of the Holy Spirit. Without His enabling grace, it becomes a struggle that is constantly overshadowed by failure and frustration.

PERFECTION = COMPLETION

I had never thought of these words being synonymous. But in reading a book called “The Grand Weaver,” the author says – Perfection is not a change in the essential character but the completion of a course.

That is a very interesting concept and has a lot of meaning for me. In a recent conversation, it came to me that houses without roofs, are not livable – and therefore in the purpose they were intended, they are completely useless. It doesn’t matter if you hand carve the bricks or make them of gold, without a roof, it is still useless.

I heard a sermon once and the pastor said that one of Satan’s most successful tools is the suggestion of “TOMORROW.” And it is so true. We all know the saying, ‘Tomorrow never comes,’ yet we are fooled time and time again that we can put things off – and in our minds “we will finish tomorrow.”

We then try live in our unfinished homes – incomplete lives – and then curse God when it rains and we get wet. We blame Him for our lack and feel quite justified in doing so. He says – “just put the roof on!!!” “I’ve given you EVERYTHING you need for life and godliness. Use it." We CAN finish what we began.

I don’t mean that we must complete everything we ever have to do in one day – being today – it is the whole concept behind it – procrastination being the root of many of our failures.

I believe that He, Himself, is the One who gives us all we need. That we only truly become complete in as much as we allow Him to live through us. That that is the only way that we will ever successfully complete anything we ever do.

I watched a movie about Bill Maher's search for God - Religulous. It was rather interesting but his intentions seemed mixed between 1) simply wanting to make a comedy, 2) confirming his disbelief and needing the world's support, and 3) perhaps a deep sense of really wanting to know.

I see religion, in the sense of it being man's make-up of beliefs and rules about God, and God & His actual Word, can be quite disparate, and the spirit of the law compared to the letter of the law.

I think he would have found more if he had read the Bible before exploring the people (who are going to be imperfect anywhere - glad he didn't come my way :)) and also the historical facts of Jesus recorded by non-believing historians AT THAT PRECISE TIME, both of which, he seemed somewhat lacking in knowledge.

Upon thinking, I decided, that even if I was wrong in what I believe, I'd rather be happy believing that I have a plan and purpose, and experience the joy I feel when I trust I am doing God's will, and that He's taking care of me, to that of feeling my life is just here today and gone tomorrow, and therefore of little or no consequence.

I don't see how we can go wrong if we live by the precept of LOVING YOUR NEIGHBOUR AS YOURSELF, as Jesus summed up the law in relation to others. I think there is a sense of eternity in all of our hearts ...... ?

RELATIONSHIPS – LIKENED TO PLANTS

(This is true in many factors – but obviously not all)

When we embark on a relationship we should have a priority of being committed to making it work. If that basic factor is missing, we are not ready for one.

If we wish to have a plant in our garden, we may go to a nursery to procure a seedling. When we find one to our liking we then take it home to plant.

We then take the necessary steps to ensure the seedling has the best opportunity for growth and we invest our time and effort into doing so.

We then have to carefully tender the plant – watering it, ensuring the weather conditions are correct, fertilizing it and weeding around it to make sure our other plants don’t smother it or crowd it out completely.

If it shows signs of disease or weakness we then take the steps required to strengthen it or cure the disease.

All the time we are doing this – our focus remains and is constant on how lovely the plant will be when it is fully grown and what an asset it will be to our garden or what a harvest it will bring.

Now in many aspects relationships can be likened to this.

Firstly, most people easily take the first couple of steps. But then fall completely short of all the rest.

We expect our relationship to grow and flourish in the absence of all that is necessary to make it so – which in the light of our intelligence, is ironic.

After the initial planting, some people expect to reap an immediate harvest. They don’t expect to have to invest much more of themselves – if anything – but expect all to be well and good in the relationship. Or expect the plant to overnight be full grown and exactly how we envisioned it from the start.

If we see a sign of trouble (disease), instead of doing all necessary to correct the situation, we often thinking of uprooting our plant – and may actually keep doing so – and then replanting – until the plant (relationship) is completely dead.

Current contemporary focus is NOT on a constant commitment to carry it thru, or on a happy ending that takes any effort. We, too often, are easily side-tracked on escape, avoidance or some other negative focus. Even wondering if the right decision was made in the first place – usually putting a hold on all effort (eg watering and the rest) during those periods.
This would not generally happen with a plant and our intelligence should tell us that this is NOT the way to success – but uncannily we often think LESS of relationships than we do of plants, and then often constantly wonder “what’s going wrong?”

Unlike when a plant is planted, and thoughts are towards seeing the plant in full growth, people often go from nursery to nursery having a look in case there might be a BETTER plant so we can uproot the one we’ve got and replace it. Or one might not only look, but actually keep getting new plants and uprooting the old ones. Never ever finding the amazing joy, love and intimacy that a relationship can bring.

OLD MIND SETS

Inside every one of us is a picture of God formed by what we have read, what we have been taught, our personal experiences and our past memories and feelings. We can actually have two pictures of God – what we learn we should believe about Him and what we actually do believe.

What you learn about God has to filter down through the existing beliefs in your MIND. This fact is not always understood and many people assume scripturally correct teaching will automatically clear up any wrong ideas someone might have about God. Theoretically, scripturally correct teaching on trust, love and faith should enable anyone to trust and love God with complete faith. And it will – eventually.

The problem is, even correct truth cannot always penetrate a soul that is filled with strongholds. God can sovereignly impart revelation knowledge any time He wants to, but I believe His work of renewal occurs within the framework of our minds, wills, emotions, memories, experiences and beliefs. He does not change, bypass or override. He just keeps offering His love and truth until we finally become willing to exchange our old beliefs and ideas for them.

An unrenewed mind, rigid in mind-sets formed from wrong sources, can distort the most beautiful spiritual truth. There needs to be a continuing process of washing in the Word.

Most minds come into the state of salvation stubbornly filled with old attitudes, wrong patterns of thinking and often some pretty strange ideas. Many of these old ideas and attitudes will be protected by self-erected strongholds.

The key to receiving renewal as fast as possible is to tear down the strongholds around these wrong mind sets. Unfortunately, some never accomplish this, instead, they spend their entire lives trying to intermingle their concepts of God with His truth.

Many people have formed their concept of God from old ideas rather than the truth. This is why some believers never seem to get past believing that God accepts them only when they measure up and angrily turns away when they fail. There are untold numbers who have never truly accepted God as a nurturing and loving parent, loving them unconditionally, and always ready to encourage their development. Rather, they picture Him as saying, “Nope, that’s still not good enough.” This does not come from God. It comes from an old mind-set that keeps them from receiving the truth.
